I Found Mycotoxins Where No One Was Looking

My name is Susan Gonya. I’m a dietitian, nurse, researcher, and mother, and the founder of Clean Food Solutions. My work began with one simple question: What are we really feeding our children?

What I discovered was deeply concerning. Mold toxins (mycotoxins)—toxic compounds produced by common food molds—are increasingly found in everyday foods such as bread, cereal, oats, snack foods, and even human milk. These invisible contaminants have been linked in research to gut inflammation, and immune and developmental concerns, yet they often go unnoticed and largely unregulated in the United States.

Clean Food Solutions was created to help change that. We provide clear, evidence-based information on environmental and foodborne toxins and how they affect human health— especially during early childhood. While we are concerned with all foodborne toxins, our current research focuses on mold toxins in the food supply and how chronic, low-dose exposure may affect health over time.

Our aim is to provide you with information and options to support a less-toxic life. Alongside independent research and education, we identify and recommend safer, non-toxic cooking options and foods produced by manufacturers with high quality and safety standards to help reduce exposure to PFAS (including Teflon), plastics, heavy metals, mold toxins, and other harmful substances commonly found in today’s food environment.

We are also deeply committed to nutrition science.
